Environmental Transformation Followup
About a month and a half ago I wrote at No Caption Needed about some environmental photography that I have been working on. Above are before and after photographs of logging operations taking place within the Bellingham watershed.
I am pleased to announce that the Whatcom County Council has voted to protect 8,000 acres of land in the Bellingham watershed from future logging, and will turn these forests into recreational use parks where the trees will have the time to grow into old growth. This is the best decision for the health of the watershed and for the land itself. Over the next century the above clear cuts will return to old growth forests, which is the most productive natural environment on the planet. Kudos all around.
